Blue Ocean Design is a graphic design business.
The services we supply are the designing of:
- Company identity such as logos, stationary, business cards etc.
- Product material and launches thereof (brochures / folders / promotional teasers and designer packaging),
- Financial reports,
- Internal and external newsletters (in printed medium and electronic format),
- Trustee election related matter,
- Direct marketing material,
- PowerPoint presentations,
- Promotional stands and posters for exhibitions,
- Advertisements for newspapers and periodicals,
- Web site design
- Animations for web
- Illustrations and cartoons
These services are supplied by working and designing on Apple Macintosh platform and the production and print of these services, where necessary, are also handled and controlled by Blue Ocean Design down to the actual delivery of the materials.
Clients: These services are supplied to big corporate clients and small businesses alike, the big corporates are companies such as Capitec Bank, Momentum, Sanlam, Bankmed and Metropolitan Health which make up the bulk of my income. Some of these big companies have been clients for the last 8 years and some much longer (long before Blue Ocean Design was established). Blue Ocean has a working agreement is with HUTT – an all women owned company which is 50% black empowered, to act as their creative arm. We enter into joint ventures and pitch for big jobs nationwide. Through them we have done work everywhere in SA and even for the Arab Emirates.
Personal experience: I have been in the design/repro/print industry since 1983 when I worked for Sanlam for 11 years, I was then employed by Southern Life as the manager of the in-house art studio for 5 years. After that for 2 years I was employed as the creative director of Renaissance Communications, then for 8 months I was the creative director and partner of Web-media (an Internet and design company). I then decided to start BlueOcean Design in 2001.
Company profile: Blue Ocean Design was established in 2001 and has a staff compliment of 4 - two directors, one female (who owns 50% of the company) and two designers. I also have business relationships with one extra female designer and one female typesetter.
